What to ExpectCotton to Citrus: The Bold Farm Shift That’s Paying Off
The Open Day is structured around the three questions any producer seriously considering a farm shift needs answered: why the market case stacks up right now, how to build a water-efficient and scalable operation, and what conversion actually looks like from those who have already done it.
Speakers include representatives from Citrus Australia, specialist agricultural valuers, irrigation engineers, Narrabri Shire Council, and producers who have already made the shift from cotton, with real production figures and market returns on the table.
The conversation will cover water productivity, the economics of conversion, route to market, and long-term asset value. The kind of frank, peer-level discussion that rarely happens somewhere this accessible.
The day wraps with open networking, with the option to continue informally at Baan Baa Hotel.
In Our Words
“We made the call to replace cotton with citrus and it wasn’t a decision we took lightly. There were hard questions around water, capital, infrastructure, and markets. This field day is about putting all of those questions on the table, with real numbers and people who’ve been through it, to allow others to make an informed decision for their own operation.”
